Mini and Toy Australian Shepherd Breed Registration
Our dogs are registered with American Stock Dog Registry
We have several generations of dogs since we first fell in love with the breed almost 15 years ago now. Our foundation dogs were National Stock Dog Registry and American Kennel Club Australian Shepherds (AKC) and Miniature Australian Shepherds. A couple years back there was a push that AKC not allow size variation in the Australian Shepherd (like toy, mini and standard poodle) instead, they classified the dogs under 15″ tall as a new breed- the Miniature American Shepherd. We chose to stay Australian Shepherd and moved to the ASDR.
Limited/Full Registration (Breeding Rights)
When you purchase one of our puppies you are purchasing a companion with limited registration. Why? We have tens of thousands of dollars invested in our dogs, health testing, show ring titles and much more. We try to make our pups affordable for all budgets and to do so we have lower prices for pups going to just be pets- spayed or neutered than those pups that are going to go on a be ambassadors for the breed.
Our breeding dogs cost on average $2800 when we purchased them, then the average of $1,000 in cost for showing to a championship, and around another $1,000 in genetic and health testing means we have apporx. $4,800 in each of our breeding dogs. Wow! Selling a pup with “breeding rights” is a decision based on the individual puppy or dog. We are proud of the pups we produce and only the best will be offered with rights and will cost more than those going to be pets. **2023 Breeding Right Fee- $1000** (In addition to price of the puppy)
You get what you pay for!
This is an adage that we have all heard before. I get folks messaging wanting a blue merle female small toy and have a budget of $400. I have more than that in each pup before it leaves our care. Raising puppies is not cheap or easy if it is done right.
Our dogs will live long healthy lives and are from known dispositions and backgrounds. We are not here to see how many pups we can produce but focus on quality, not quantity. We put a lot of time and effort into our puppies before they leave our home to join yours. If you are looking for a “cheap” dog- we suggest the local shelter. There are many dogs looking for homes- no, you will not have a guarantee that they will be healthy when they come home and will be sure they will not development temperament or disposition issues later down the road. That is the risk you are taking for the “cheap” price.
